What is Multispectral Analysis?
Multispectral analysis is a powerful, technology-driven method used to monitor and improve crop health and yield. It works by using specialized sensors, often mounted on drones, that measure how crops reflect sunlight in multiple wavelengths—some invisible to the human eye.
Plants absorb and reflect different wavelengths depending on their health. Healthy crops strongly reflect near-infrared (NIR) light and absorb more visible light, especially red wavelengths. Conversely, stressed or unhealthy plants reflect less NIR and more visible light. Multispectral sensors detect these differences, and this data is used to calculate vegetation indexes, such as the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI).
